related tips that will make your life easier. Please
let us know if you
have better suggestions. We will share good suggestions with our readers
and mention your name with the suggestion! Which web based email is the best? Definitely Gmail. Why not Yahoo, Hotmail or others? 1. Interface: Gmail has a brilliant interface. It organizes your emails in a smart way and is much faster than Yahoo or Hotmail. 2. Free POP service: Gmail provides POP service for free. That means you can download your emails by Outlook, Eudora or other related softwares. This is particularly useful if you use a slow broadband connection or a dialup internet connection. 3. All in one: You can manage several email accounts from your Gmail window. You do not have to log in and check mails in your hotmail or yahoo accounts. You can collect all those emails in your Gmail account and also reply by using your yahoo or hotmail address. All you can do from just one window - Gmail. 4. Search: You can search your emails by powerful Google search technology. 5. Chat: You can chat with other Gmail users from your Gmail window. Chats are automatically saved in your Gmail and could also be searched at a later time. 6. Large attachment: You can attach files of up to 20 MB in a single email. 7. Email on Mobile: You can access your emails from Gmail by using your GPRS/EDGE enable mobile phone. You can also send emails from your mobile phone by using your Gmail account. 5. Passion: Simply because I love it. :-) |

Be
careful about Virus and Worm in Email attachments: Most virus and worms spread as email attachments. Taking some precaution can keep you safe from getting virus by emails. Some of the common file types used to deliver viruses are: .scr - Windows Screen Saver - Be careful if you receive a screen saver via email. These may contain viruses and worms. .pif - DO NOT OPEN! This is most likely a virus. Clicking it will run a program or code that may install a virus in your computer. .exe - executable file - a program that may contain a virus, trojan horse, or worm .pps - MS PowerPoint (may contain macro virus) .zip - Zip (compressed) file, may contain virus .vbs - Visual Basic script .bat - Executable MS-DOS batch file .com - DOS executable command .asp - active server page - internet script .doc - Word document (may contain macro virus) .xls - Excel file (may contain macro virus) .pdf, .txt and .jpg (and other picture) files are usually considered as safe. However, please look out for any extra extension added to an attached file. For example, you may have something like "name.jpg.exe". If you don't have your computer set to view file extensions, it may just look like "name.jpg" and you wouldn't see "vbs" part. It's better to set your computer to view file extensions. |
